At holiday time Sinaia is an hour and a half from Bucharest and, if the winter is generous, under snow. People are already making plans, so here is what is worth knowing: what is open in the last days of the year, what the holidays are like with us, in the forest, and how to book.
Christmas in Sinaia
The centre is decorated from December, the tree stands in Dimitrie Ghica Park, next to the ice rink that opens when the weather allows, and the Christmas services at Sinaia Monastery draw people from the whole resort. Peleș Castle reopens on 2 December 2026, after its autumn cleaning, and is open Wednesday to Sunday, including the week between the holidays; tickets are bought online for time slots and sell out quickly in the holidays, so get them when you book your stay and check the holiday schedule on peles.ro.

You can cook Christmas dinner yourself: Apartment 1 has a full kitchen and a living room with a fireplace, and the other apartments and Studio 4 have equipped kitchenettes. We are a 10-minute walk from the centre, but in the forest, on a street without close neighbours, so Christmas Eve is quiet.
Between Christmas and New Year
The days between the holidays are the busiest of the year on the slopes: the cable car and the Carp gondola run from the morning, the 25 slopes and 11 lifts work on a single card, and equipment can be hired in the resort. If you don't ski, go up anyway for the view, skate in the park or walk through the forest towards Poiana Stânii. For a day outside Sinaia, Brașov is about an hour away: the Christmas market in Piața Sfatului usually runs from late November until after Epiphany (in 2025, from 30 November to 11 January). With children, the Elves' Village in Predeal is open over the holidays.
New Year's Eve
You spend the night between the years as you like: in the centre of the resort, where people gather at midnight, or in the apartment, with your own. At the villa we celebrate quietly: parties are not allowed and quiet hours run from 22:00 to 07:00, because the people around you have come to rest. On 1 January the lifts and slopes run depending on the weather; check sinaiago.ro in the morning.
How to book for the holidays
Rates are dynamic, start from RON 250 a night and are higher over the holidays, and the period 24 December to 3 January fills up first, so book as early as you can in the booking calendar. You book directly on the site, in the calendar; the booking is confirmed after you pay the proforma invoice, within 24 hours. Every stay adds a cleaning fee of RON 100 and a resort fee of RON 10 per stay per person. Cancellation is free until 48 hours before check-in. Check-in is self check-in from 15:00, with the code sent on the day of arrival, so you can arrive on the evening of 24 or 31 December without depending on anyone.
